Bring Art in Action to your school virtually!

Art in Action values the relationships we have with students and the wider school communities we have worked in. During these difficult times we have come up with creative ideas on how our program can still benefit students. We have developed online live classes that are curriculum-based where students can participate along with the teacher, interact, and are able to ask questions throughout the art-making process. Safety is a priority for everyone and these virtual classes in schools would include: A live class done through Zoom, students can see the teacher, the art making process, ask questions and interact throughout Each student will receive individualized art-kits with all the soft supplies needed to create the project Participating in the art-making process can have a very positive effect on mental health and the tactile experience of working with art materials is a great way for students to engage in kinesthetic activities. We have hundreds of projects to choose from and each virtual class is curriculum based and uses the principles and elements of art and design. Please contact us at artinactiontoronto@gmail.com for more information.

Day 19 – Be an Entomologist like Maria Merian

Maria Sibylla Merian was a German-born naturalist and scientific illustrator who was born in Frankfurt, Germany in 1647. At a time when insects were thought to be “beasts of the devil,” her beautiful and accurate paintings revolutionized the science of entomology. Her painstaking observation skills refuted the prevailing notion at the time that insects spontaneously arose […]

Day 18 – Victoria Day Fireworks

Today let’s be inspired by the fireworks that are used to celebrate Victoria Day and the unofficial beginning of summer. Let’s get started by creating a black background. Tape a piece of watercolour paper to another sheet of paper so it is easier to use the scraping technique. Squeeze and line of paint along the […]

Day 17 – Easy Toronto Cityscape

Let’s be inspired by the beautiful skyline of our cities, in my case Toronto. First I taped a piece of watercolour paper in a landscape position to a piece of cardboard. Next I used a piece of masking tape to create a horizon line. You will need two brushes to do this project, a fan […]

For today’s project, I thought we’d try something a little different! Other than doodling, painting rocks is one of my favorite relaxing activities. For today I thought it would be fun to show you how to make a tic-tac-toe board with Ladybugs and Turtles. You can make your own tic-tac-toe game! 10 oval rocks for […]

Bob Ross and his expression, “Happy little clouds” just seems to make people feel joy. He is such an iconic painter who really opened up the mysterious world of painting to a wide audience.
