Day 13 – Happy Little Clouds

May 13, 2020

Bob Ross and his expression, “Happy little clouds” just seems to make people feel joy. He is such an iconic painter who really opened up the mysterious world of painting to a wide audience. So many of our students watch his shows and learn his techniques.

Today let’s create some happy little clouds over a chalk pastel background.

Supplies:

  • watercolour paper
  • chalk pastels
  • paper towels
  • white acrylic paint

Use your chalk pastel’s on their sides and using a combination of blue’s create a sky and sea. Next, use a few pinks to the sky to show the remnants of sunset still in the sky. Use your fingers or a piece of paper towel to blend the colours and then add more over top blending as you go.

Use a crumpled up piece of paper towel to dip into the white acrylic paint and create happy little clouds in the sky. I think it might make Bob Ross smile…and I hope it made you as well.
