This week we travelled back in time and were inspired by 18th Century British painter, Joseph Wright of Derby an English landscape and portrait painter. He is known for creating stories and mysteries around each painting and as the first professional painter to express the spirit of the Industrial Revolution. Joseph Wright was also fascinated by Mount Vesuvius and painted it more than 30 times in his lifetime.
Students used a variety of materials like the ones below and learned new techniques to create their own erupting volcano and bring to life Viking ships from a bygone era. Creating the smoke was also an exciting effect!
