School Dilemma’s…

Sep 8, 2020

As a parent myself I know that this school year is going to be completely different than any before. Parents are having to make hard decisions about what is best for their family and children. The right answer for everyone will be different and everyone is doing the best they can.

COVID continues to shape our lives every day. We have all had to adapt and change as the situation evolves. Students have been out of traditional school for 6 months. That is an unprecedented time away from the classroom.

I know that making art and creating has been a great way to distract myself from the news and the upheaval of our current situation. Creating allows your mind to focus and concentrate on what is right before you, offering some much needed “peace of mind.” Its times like this where children need to learn skills to help cope with all the uncertainty.

Children who participate in the arts learn:

  • to celebrate multiple perspectives
  • they learn that there can be many answers to a problem or challenge and different ways to overcome something
  • the arts helps children express what cannot be put into words and gives an outlet to feelings

“Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.” – Pablo Picasso

I hope you can begin the school year together with us as we spark creativity and wash away some of the dust and stresses of everyday life. Join Art in Action online to learn how to create iconic loons on a lake, beautiful ripe cherries in a bowl, a mesmerizing vibrant abstract creation, and a sunset cityscape.
