“I like to play with paint, ink, paper and stitch to make awesome things.  I experiment with shapes, ideas, products and techniques.  I’m on an ongoing art adventure.”

-Julie Fei-Fan Balzer

Julie Fei-Fan Balzer is a mixed-media painter, author, blogger, TV personality, and teacher. As a part of her art practise, Julie uses the displine of art journalling to express herself and experiment with new techniques.

Art Journaling is a process that combines art and words to express yourself.  There are no mistakes and no rules for art journaling. Art journaling has had a long standing artistic tradition.  Throughout the centuries artists have kept notebooks in which they sketched, practiced, experimented and recorded themselves.  Vincent Van Gogh kept notebooks using moleskin.  Pablo Picasso and Leonardo Da Vinci were also prolific sketchbook keepers.

Students used collage materials, chalk pastels, paint, stamping and a final quote to express themselves.
