“I enjoy the freedom of just using my hands and “found” tools – a sharp stone, the quill of a feather, thorns. I take the opportunities each day offers: if it is snowing, I work with snow, at leaf-fall it will be leaves.”
-Andy Goldsworthy
Abstract leaves filled our desks this week. The bright colours of fall were first scraped across our paper mixing bright yellow, rich orange and crimson making a stunning background for our pieces. Next we painted in the negative spaces surrounding our leaves with black acrylic paint and finished with a few colourful details.
Andy Goldsworthy inspired our art, he is a British sculptor, photographer and environmentalist producing site-specific sculpture and land art situated in natural and urban settings.
